UpCycled offers trashionable products like bags and other items reinvented from waste materials such as old newspapers and scrap cloth. OUR PRODUCTS Each UpCycled Tote is unique; carefully handmade by patients from the mental institute and indigent communities in the Philippines using old newspapers but incorporating it with functional materials and designs that make them both pretty and practical. UpCycled retaso eco-bags use scraps from corporate giveaways that would otherwise have been regarded as waste. Instead of churning out merely re-usable “eco-bags” that make new ones from virgin materials, value is added to this humble patchwork creation, reinventing it into a REAL eco-bag by repurposing existing resources. (For volume orders, your company/name/logo can also be imprinted onto the handy mini-pouch attached to the bag for convenient storage). WHY UPCYCLED? Upcycling is an element of sustainability where waste is used to create new products; a "reinvestment in the environment", that reduces waste and use of virgin material. Inspired by "Re-imagining Our Waste" (http://www.digitaluniverse.net/upcycling/), the term was coined by William McDonough and Michael Braungart, authors of "Cradle to Cradle: Remaking the Way We Make Things". We're not hardcore environmental activists; we just want to make a difference by making the right choices, like using opportunities to reduce the use of virgin material. Taking little green steps is better than turning a blind eye because each thoughtful act helps. We can celebrate fashion ethically because it's a satisfying way to guide the industry to do even more ecologically-correct practices. Doing something about climate change is our generation's mission, just like securing our country's freedom or fighting for equal rights was the goal of previous generations. Making the right choices will not always be economical, but we consider it as a tax we voluntarily pay for using the Earth. We want you to experience that we can be fashion-forward and functional while being more aware. Every green choice makes a difference - no matter how small!
